Laser Skin Treatments in Spokane

Laser Skin Treatments in Spokane

As people age, their skin may experience blemishes, scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. It can cause your skin to change and be less aesthetically pleasing. Thankfully, there are treatment options available in Spokane that can eliminate all of these skin issues and give you a more youthful glow.

Laser skin resurfacing uses small beams of light to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and scars. Pulsating light beams are sent to a specific treatment area to remove damaged skin one layer at a time. The laser beam removes the top layer of skin while heating the layer underneath to promote additional collagen growth.

Spokane Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Jordan Sand has extensive experience with advanced cosmetic solutions like laser treatments. He is an expert surgeon with a reputation for outstanding natural and beautiful results. He constantly upgrades his methods and practices with innovative techniques from around the world to offer the best laser treatments in the region.

How Long Does Laser Resurfacing Take?

In most cases, laser resurfacing takes no more than 30 minutes to two hours to complete. Before you start, the doctor may choose to have you begin customized treatments in the weeks before the skin resurfacing. The laser resurfacing will be done on an outpatient basis.

Once you arrive, your skin will be numbed with a topical solution to make the process more comfortable. The resurfacing will be done with a CO2 laser, which has been utilized for many years as an effective way to stimulate new collagen, decrease fine lines and wrinkles and result in overall skin rejuvenation. After the treatment is complete, a dressing will be applied to the skin to protect the area that was treated.

What to Expect After Laser Resurfacing

Following treatment, your skin may feel as if you have a sunburn. Stinging, itching, swelling, and redness may also be present for several days after laser resurfacing. At about three to seven days after treatment, the skin will get dry and being to peel. Aftercare may be comprised of the following:

  • Apply skincare treatments to help the healing process.
  • Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen for sensitive skin each day.
  • Apply a large amount of moisturizer each day.
  • Spend time away from the sun, especially from 10 am to 2 pm.
  • Avoid glycolic acid or Retin A products until fully healed.

How Quickly Are the Results of Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Within the first week of the procedure, you can expect to see improvements in the tone and texture of your skin. The full enhancements of the procedure will be seen in around three months. Treated skin will peel to create rejuvenated new skin underneath. It will be pink at first but will return to your normal skin tone in a few months. Protecting the skin is essential during this time.
