Do you feel that your cheekbones are low, or that they can barely be seen? Cheek fillers could be the solution and offer the definition and volume you’re looking for. In addition to enhancing your cheekbone structure, these dermal fillers can also be used to address wrinkles, lines, and other signs of aging. What should you know about the process? We’ll explore it all below.
Cheek fillers are also called dermal fillers – there are many brands on the market, but most of them rely on hyaluronic acid. They offer a low-volume boost to cheek appearance and address aging-related concerns. The same fillers are used in other areas of the face, including the lips and the nose.
Cheek fillers help improve the volume of your cheeks and enhance bone structure. They are frequently used by those who have lost volume in their face, resulting in a sagging, aged appearance. They are also used by those who feel that their cheekbones are not prominent enough.
Before having a cheek filler procedure, you will need to sit down with your doctor during a consultation. At this time the doctor will examine your cheekbones and facial structure, listen to your goals, and then provide guidance and advice to help guide you forward. They will also help you set realistic expectations for the procedure. In most cases, cheek fillers deliver subtle results – more dramatic results will require surgery.
Cheek filling is an outpatient procedure and usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes. Before the appointment, you will need to stop taking any type of blood thinner (usually about two weeks beforehand). When you arrive for the appointment, your doctor will apply an anesthetic to the areas to be treated (a topical agent that numbs the skin). Next, they will inject fillers into the skin in the areas you discussed.
Most patients see some change immediately. However, it can take a couple of days for the full results to be visible. There is very little recovery required with this procedure and most patients can return to their normal routine immediately. You will be told to avoid strenuous exercise for up to 48 hours after the procedure and that you should try to sleep on your back instead of your side.
In many cases, patients experience results that last for several years. However, cheek fillers are temporary and you will need to have additional injections at some point. If you want a more permanent solution, surgery may be right for you.
Cheek fillers offer the opportunity to enhance your cheekbone structure, fill in hollow cheeks, and combat lines and wrinkles. If you feel that your face is gaunt or that your cheekbones are not as visible as you would like, speak with your doctor to determine if cheek fillers are right for you.
