Non-Surgical Liquid Facelift Benefits

Hi, I’m Dr. Jordan Sand. I’m going to talk a little bit about what we like to call a non-surgical facelift or as it’s sometimes called a liquid facelift.

A liquid facelift compared to a surgical facelift involves placing some volume in key select areas to help rejuvenate the face. When we do surgery, what we’re doing is lifting the volume, back into those areas, but that often requires downtime, requires a procedure essentially with anesthesia, versus an in office quick procedure where we can deposit filler material and help provide a lift without having to do any surgery.

Patients that are showing mild to moderate signs of facial aging and hollowing, are people that are excellent candidates for liquid facelift. For patients that have a lot of skin sagging or extensive sun damage. Those patients are going to benefit more from a surgical procedure as filler is probably not going to be able to address all of the concerns in those situations.

The key components of a liquid facelift typically are going to involve both the dermal fillers and also neuromodulators.

So the dermal fillers work to restore volume, they enhance facial contours, they replenish areas that have been depleted due to age and time or age and sun exposure. Neuromodulators help to provide additional lift. They also help smooth out deeper lines in various areas of the face, especially around the eyes and the forehead.

Fillers are probably best used, in the cheek zones, around the mouth and the jawline. Those are the areas where I think the filler probably provides the greatest impact.

The results if done with a professional hand can look very natural. They typically are going to last, somewhere in the range of a couple of years, one to two years. Most of these filler products, depending on which types you’re using are likely going to stick around for 1. 5 to 2 years. So usually these procedures are going to be a great value for the time that you get out of them.

The biggest advantage of a liquid facelift or non-surgical facelift is that there’s no surgery involved. Can all be accomplished just in a quick clinic visit. You can drive yourself to and from. There’s going to be essentially no downtime. You might have a little bit of some swelling that you’ll have to ice, but essentially there’s a very low side effect profile.

The limitations, however, compared to a surgical facelift are that you’re just adding volume and we’re not moving around volume. We’re not lifting the skin or sizing any skin or tightening. With that, depending on the patient’s anatomy and what their situation is, liquid facelift may or may not provide them results that they’re looking for. But it can provide a really powerful result for the right patient.

I think patients that are interested in a quick fix, somebody that would like to get some improvement right away without any downtime, maybe a busy professional, or somebody that is noticing that their face looks pretty volume deficient and they just look hollow. Those patients are going to do very well with volume replenishment.
